Student Employment
All students, regardless of financial need, are eligible to seek a campus job. Students are able to be hired under the Federal Work-Study Program, if identified in your financial aid package. If Federal Work-Study is not included in your award package, you can still seek a job through Campus Employment.
Federal Work-Study
Federal Work-Study Awards are intended to help students earn income, funded by the US Department of Education, to meet some of your educational costs.
Students with Federal Work-Study are not required to work and will not be placed into a position. Should you choose to seek a Federal Work-Study job:
- You will receive Federal Work-Study earnings directly, it is not applied to your tuition bill.
- Most work-study jobs average 10 hours per week.
- Work-study earnings are paid bi-weekly and are subject to federal taxes.
Campus Employment
Many campus departments are willing to hire students who do not have Federal Work-Study included in their financial aid package. While those with Federal Work-Study are given a hiring priority, students who identify themselves as seeking a Campus Employment position (non-Federal Work-Study) will often be given many job opportunities.
After you are Hired
- Once hired, you are not permitted to work until you complete an I-9 Form, Federal Tax Form (W-4), State Tax Form (IT-4) and Direct Deposit Form with the Student Payroll Office, Yochum Hall, Lower Level, Room 18. All forms can be found on this page.

Types of Student Employment Positions
You'll find a wide variety of positions available in department throughout the campus. Jobs are generally categorized into three different levels, based on skills required. Each job posting will clearly identify the pay rate and skills required.
